FAQ
What’s the ideal hair length for waxing?
For optimal results, aim for hair to be about ¼ inch long, allowing the wax to effectively grip the hair.
Is there any preparation needed before waxing?
Nope! Our Wax Specialists handle everything and guide you through our 4 Steps to Smooth™ process. We simply ask that you arrive punctually.
Where can I find information about your hygiene standards?
What are the differences between a bikini line, bikini full, and bikini Brazilian wax?
- Bikini line: This is a basic tidy-up where we remove hair from the sides (known as the panty line) and across the top to prevent any hairs from showing when wearing a bikini.
- Bikini (full): This option allows you to customize the amount of hair removal on the front. You can choose to remove as much or as little hair as you prefer, whether it’s leaving a small “landing strip,” a triangle, or opting for complete removal.
- Bikini Brazilian: This waxing extends from the front to the back, including an added strip for the buttocks. It offers a completely nude look, or you can opt for leaving a neat triangle on the front, depending on your preference. How long does a wax typically last?
Waxing results generally last between 3–4 weeks, though individual regrowth rates vary. Using the right products can help prolong your results further; feel free to ask your Wax Specialist for recommendations.
Is waxing painful for first-timers?
The level of discomfort varies depending on your pain tolerance. Since waxing removes hair from the root, some discomfort is normal. However, our licensed Wax Specialists prioritize your comfort. Plus, many top magazines and reviewers have described the experience as virtually painless.
Can I wax while on medication?
For specific guidance, it’s recommended to consult your doctor.
For prescribed creams like Retin-A or Differin, we suggest discontinuing use 7 days prior to your wax appointment and refraining from use until 7 days after your service.
Please note: We do not perform waxing services if you’re on Accutane due to safety concerns. A doctor’s note is required to receive services while on Accutane.
Remember to inform our Guest Service Coordinators of any medications you’re taking to ensure a safe waxing experience.
Can I wax with a sunburn?
Unfortunately, we cannot perform services on sunburned or irritated skin. We prioritize the health and safety of your skin. Once your skin has healed, we’ll be happy to welcome you back for a waxing appointment.
Can I wax after a facial?
If you had a basic facial with cleanse, steam, exfoliation, and mask, you’re good to go for waxing.
However, if you had a specialty facial involving deep exfoliation like AHA or BHA peels, microdermabrasion, or similar treatments, it’s best to wait at least 7 days before waxing.
For any medical-grade facial treatment, consult your doctor before waxing.
I’m pregnant! Can I still wax?
Congratulations on your pregnancy! Yes, you can still wax. However, be aware that you may experience increased skin sensitivity due to hormonal changes. Our Wax Specialists prioritize your comfort during the service and will ensure you’re as comfortable as possible. If you’re in the last two months of pregnancy, we recommend consulting with your doctor beforehand.
What if I drool all over the face cradle or fart during my massage?
During your massage, increased circulation and digestion promotion are common, aiming to induce relaxation. While drooling may occur naturally and varies among individuals, unintentional farting is also a possibility. Rest assured, it’s acceptable as long as it’s not intentional.
What if I am self-conscious about certain parts of my body?
If you’re uncomfortable with treating a specific area, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We can avoid those areas or explore alternative options, such as treating through the sheets. We pride ourselves on being a judgment-free zone, welcoming everyone regardless of shape, size, color, religion, or sexual orientation. Remember, you’re beautiful inside and out, and we’re here to help you enhance that natural glow. Feel free to call us with any concerns!
Why are facials necessary and what are they?
Facials are essential for skin health and maintenance, offering more than just luxury or pampering—though they do provide a relaxing experience for many. They boost circulation, stimulate the skin, and can slow down premature aging while improving conditions like acne, redness, and Rosacea. They’re an effective preventative measure against wrinkles and contribute to achieving lighter, brighter, and younger-looking skin. Additionally, many men benefit from regular facials to minimize irritation, redness, ingrown hairs, and razor burn associated with shaving.
Why should you see a professional Esthetician?
Just like regular check-ups with doctors and dentists are crucial for overall health, professional skincare is essential for your skin’s well-being. Your skin, being your body’s largest organ, acts as a defense against environmental elements and helps eliminate toxins while continually renewing and protecting itself. To ensure your skin looks and feels its best, it requires personalized attention from a professional. At PURE Skincare & Acne Spa, our licensed esthetician, Holly Smith, offers expert skin treatments tailored to your specific needs and recommends products to maintain optimal skin health between facials.
Why do I need facials? Regular facials are essential for maintaining skin health beyond just providing a luxurious experience. They play a crucial role in promoting optimal skin function by enhancing circulation, stimulating cell turnover, and addressing various skin concerns such as acne and premature aging. Facials help achieve a lighter, brighter, and more youthful complexion by deeply cleansing, nourishing, and rejuvenating the skin.
Why do I need a professional Esthetician? Professional Estheticians are trained experts who provide personalized care tailored to your skin’s specific needs. Similar to regular check-ups with doctors and dentists, professional Estheticians assess your skin condition, recommend appropriate treatments, and suggest skincare products to maintain optimal skin health. Their expertise ensures effective results and addresses individual concerns with precision and care.
What can I expect at my facial appointment? During your first facial appointment, you’ll fill out a form providing essential information such as contact details, allergies, and current medications. Your Esthetician will then conduct a thorough evaluation of your skin, discussing your skincare goals and concerns. The facial treatment typically includes a series of steps, including cleansing to remove impurities, exfoliation to slough off dead skin cells, steam to open pores, massage for relaxation and improved circulation, and application of a treatment mask to address specific skin issues.
What should I do to prepare for my facial? To prepare for your facial appointment, arrive a few minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork. It’s advisable to remove makeup and tie back long hair to ensure a clean and comfortable experience. Men should ideally be clean-shaven unless they have facial hair. Otherwise, simply relax and enjoy the calming ambiance of our spa environment.
Will the facial hurt, or be uncomfortable? Facials are designed to be gentle and soothing, with minimal discomfort. The products used are carefully selected to be non-irritating and suitable for all skin types. If you experience any discomfort during the treatment, don’t hesitate to communicate with your Esthetician, who will adjust the procedure accordingly to ensure your comfort.
How soon will I start seeing results from my facial? Results from facials can vary from person to person, but many individuals notice immediate improvements in skin texture, hydration, and overall appearance following their treatment. Long-term benefits include enhanced skin health, reduced signs of aging, and effective management of skin concerns with consistent care and maintenance.
What are the long-term benefits of getting regular facials? Regular facials contribute to maintaining skin at an optimal level of fitness, resulting in healthier, more radiant skin over time. By addressing specific skin issues and providing ongoing care, regular facials help prevent future problems, promote collagen production, and support overall skin health and vitality.
How can seasonal changes affect my skin? Seasonal changes, along with environmental factors like air conditioning and heating, can impact skin health by causing dryness, sensitivity, and other issues. Adapting your skincare regimen to seasonal variations can help counteract these effects and maintain healthy skin throughout the year. Your Esthetician can provide personalized recommendations to address seasonal skin concerns and optimize your skincare routine accordingly.
If I get a facial, do I have to use professional products at home? While it’s not mandatory to use professional skincare products at home, incorporating them into your routine can enhance and prolong the results of your facial treatments. Unlike some store-bought products that may contain harsh or ineffective ingredients, professional skincare products are formulated with high-quality ingredients tailored to specific skin needs, providing optimal nourishment and protection for long-term skin health.
How often should I get a facial? Monthly facials are generally recommended to maintain optimal skin health and address specific concerns effectively. However, the frequency of facials can be tailored to your individual needs, skincare goals, and lifestyle factors. Your Esthetician can assess your skin condition and recommend a personalized treatment schedule to achieve the best results.
What should I do after my facial?
Here are the instructions for post-facial care:
- Take Your Time Getting Up: After your relaxing facial, take your time to get up and dressed. When you’re ready, meet me up front, and I’ll provide you with a custom product recommendation sheet and skincare regimen tailored to your needs.
- Put On a New Mask: It’s essential to put on a clean, new mask after your facial to avoid transferring any dirt, bacteria, or sweat from the previous one onto your fresh, clean face. I’ll provide you with a new mask at the end of your facial.
- Avoid Exfoliation: Refrain from exfoliating your skin for 3-5 days after your facial. Your skin has already been exfoliated and deeply cleansed, so additional exfoliation during this time can cause sensitivities or irritation. I’ll provide you with a regimen to follow between treatments.
- Use Gentle Cleansers: Avoid harsh cleansers or those not recommended for your skin type, as they can disrupt the balance of your newly treated skin.
- Avoid Makeup if Possible: Try to avoid wearing makeup for 12-24 hours after your facial to allow the products used during your treatment to penetrate and work effectively. If you have an event planned, schedule your facial a couple of days prior to ensure your skin is soft and glowing for effortless makeup application.
- Avoid At-Home Chemical Treatments: Refrain from applying any at-home chemical treatments or products for 12-24 hours, unless advised otherwise. Harsh chemical products may interact negatively with the products used during your facial treatment.
- Limit Sun Exposure: Your skin has been deeply exfoliated and stimulated, so it’s essential to limit your time in the sun and wear SPF to protect your skin from potential damage.
- Avoid Touching Your Skin: Resist the urge to touch your skin after your facial, as your hands carry bacteria and dirt that can clog your pores and negate the benefits of your deep cleansing facial.
- Hydrate: Drink plenty of water after your facial and every day to help flush out toxins and achieve a clear complexion.
- Schedule Your Next Appointment: Don’t forget to schedule your next facial appointment before you leave. For skin conditions or breakouts, a facial every 3-4 weeks is recommended, while maintenance facials are advised every 6-8 weeks. Consistent care will help maintain the health and radiance of your skin.
- Relax and Enjoy
